Barbara Chainey is one of the foremost quilting teachers in the UK, her speciality being traditional hand quilting & quilting design. During the 25 years she has been teaching, writing & designing she has inspired & encourages countless quilters of all skill levels through workshops, demonstrations & lectures. She has judged at major quilt shows & also in the USA. Since 1991 more than 150 of her elegant & original quilting designs have been translated into stencils & six signature fabric collections were produced by Rose & Hubble.

Barbara’s first book The Essential Quilter is now widely regarded as a standard reference, as is her third book Quilt It! In addition to writing for quilting & needlecraft magazines, she has presented a video on patchwork & quilting with the practical down-to-earth touch which is her particular trademark.

Barbara has taught & lectured for US guilds, groups & retreats since 1992 & at International Quilt Festival in Houston in 1996, 1997, 2000 & 2001. She has also taught in Johannesburg, Dubai and Cairo.
